Billy Fury birthday statue gathering 13th April 2008.
A lot of fans went along to the statue prior to the thanksgiving service in Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. Granada TV interviewed both Jean and Albie and reporters from local newspapers were also there. Fans sang "Happy Birthday" and some broke into "Halfway To Paradise". There were lots of flowers and messages left on the plinth.
A large structure is being built close to the statue, surrounded by scaffolding. It looks as though it will be an illuminated sign.
