WHAT A NIGHT - JASON EDDIE 'IN SUMMER' - BRILLIANT SHOW!
The show we had all been waiting for finally arrived............the many hundreds of fans were not disappointed!
Opening the show were Everly Brothers tribute, twin brothers 'Two Of A Kind'. What a start! They had the audience's feet tapping right away with their highly authentic sound. All the hits were there from 'Wake Up Little Susie' to 'Bird Dog'.
Liverpool Express followed, having been introduced by Dave Sampson, compere, known to many in his own right as a hit singer and one of Billy and Albie's close friends since the 60's. They played many of their own hit songs to the delight of the audience led by Billy Kinsley (ex Merseybeats) yet another friend of Billy's. We were sad to see them go to much clapping and shouts for more as the interval arrived.
The excitement was building as Dave introduced Jason Eddie with his band 'The New Jason Eddie Sound', his gorgeous girl singers 'The Passionettes' and a string section incorporating, brass and keyboard. We weren't disappointed as Jason emerged, looking stunning in black leather to give us a fantastic set of his brother's most popular songs, immediately having the audience in the palm of his hand. In between each song he entertained and amused us with his little quips in his own inimitable style. Jean, his mum joined him for the Billy Fury anthem 'Halfway To Paradise' and commented 'isn't he wonderful?'. He is, she must be so proud to have produced two sons with such talent even though he modestly said that his was a small fraction of Billy's. I don't know that everyone would agree on that one as he recieved his standing ovation!
