SPIRIT OF LIVERPOOL AWARDS
Jean and Albie Wycherley were present at the 'Sprit of Liverpool' awards ceremony held at the World Museum and hosted by Claire Sweeny. Although Billy gained many votes, the Beatles won the music category.....again!!! Dixie Dean, legendary Everton footballer was voted greatest Merseysider of all time. The all-England record-breaking soccer superstar, scored a still unsurpassed 60 goals in one season, winning the Spirit of Liverpool competition to mark the city’s 800th anniversary.

Other category prize-winners honoured in the six-month competition, presented in partnership with Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank, were Ken Dodd, the author and broadcaster Brian Jacques; Professor Janet Hemingway, director of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine; Jospice International founder Father Francis O’Leary, the human rights campaigner James Mawdsley; Liverpool city guide Steve Binns; Meccano inventor Frank Hornby and the politician William Gladstone.

BFITOY SUPPORT CATS' HOME
On Saturday June 30th there was an open day at Boote Home For Cats in Elm Vale Liverpool(Registered Charity Number 227795). Frankie Connor, Radio Merseyside presenter and BFITOY honorary member is a patron of the home and was there along with a representitive of BFITOY who gave a small donation on behalf of the fan club. Albie sent some cat food as his personal gift to the home.

Frankie mentioned it on the radio on Sunday and played several Billy Fury songs, keeping his name alive and gaining the fan club publicity. Albie received a thank you letter saying that the person who wrote it is a Billy Fury fan and gains much pleasure from listening to his music.
Jean and Albie Wycherely were guests at the press launch of the new DVD Billy Fury - His Wondrous Story ,held in London on 25th June 2007. There were many famous faces amongst the people present some of whom feature on the DVD.

Decca records made a surprise presentation to Jean and Albie towards the end of the proceedings - a gold disc, recognising the incredible sales of Billy Fury records. The wording on the plaque reads "Presented to Jean and Albie Wycherley in recognition of Billy Fury's outstanding sales. DECCA."

Billy is Decca Records most successful singles artist, even outselling the Rolling Stones. What a pity that the man himself couldn't be there to receive it for this wonderful achievement.
