BILLY THE MAN
Billy was born Ronald Wycherley on April 17th 1940, in Liverpool. As a child Ronald had two bouts of rheumatic fever resulting in a serious heart problem which affected the rest of his life.

He didn't let this deter his driving ambition to be a singer/ songwriter and one life-changing day he went to the Essoldo Theatre in Birkenhead to audition for impresario Larry Parnes. Larry was so impressed with Ronnie that he told him he wanted him in the show that night. Ronnie agreed and Billy Fury was born to the delight of the audience that night.

Billy Fury was Britain's finest rock'n'roller but sadly his life was to come to an untimely end at the young age of forty two due to his heart condition.

Billy was a gentle man in his private life taking a great interest in animals and especially birds, setting up hides on his Welsh farm, photographing and watching them for hours on end. He was particularly fond of owls, rescuing hurt birds and nursing them back to health in his sanctuary.

He was very close to his family and his Mum Jean and brother Albie carry on the memory of Billy raising money for many charities. Billy Fury......In Thoughts Of You is the only fan club approved by Billy's family and their wishes are fully considered in the running of it.
